Cancellation of the SABC 2021 Annual Christmas Dinner and Fundraiser 2021

Dear Members,

Due to the ongoing pandemic and ongoing health concerns, the event committee of the SABC has decided not to hold the annual Christmas event in person this year. There have been members stating they would not be comfortable in attending an in-person meeting this year while other members stated they would only participate if all guests were determined to have been vaccinated. In light of these comments, we realized that we would be unable to provide the same quality event and value to our members and sponsors as we have in past years. As a result, we have taken the tough decision to cancel the 2021 Christmas Dinner and Fundraiser 2021 and resume the event in December 2022. We appreciate your understanding in this regard.

The SABC mourns the passing Egon Richard Jaeggin on September 22, 2021.

Egon was a treasured member of the Swiss American business community in Chicago. Egon was an active member and wonderful, long-time member of the Swiss American Business Council.

Obituary

Egon Richard Jaeggin, 86, of Barrington, was born on April 21, 1935 in Switzerland to the late August and Ottilia Jaeggin and passed away at his home surrounded by family on September 22, 2021. Egon was the loving husband of Magdalena (nee Steiger) for over 60 years; beloved father of Thomas Jaeggin, Christine (Charles) Olson, and Darlene (Gary) Zak; cherished grandfather of 7 and great-grandfather of 2; and dear brother of one sister. He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters.

Egon served in the U.S. Army and the Swiss Army, and was a member of the VFW in Barrington. Egon was the founder and president of Numerical Precision (NPI).  He proudly ran NPI since its founding in 1971 to his retirement just a few years ago. It was his passion in life.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, September 27 at 10:00am at Saint Anne Catholic Community, 120 Ela Street, Barrington. Burial will be held privately for family.

This year’s Swiss Peer to Peer Conference is more relevant than ever with discussions concerning solutions for doing business in a post-Covid-19 world. The event will provide the ideal occasion to network and strengthen the Swiss business community in the United States by bringing together key stakeholders in both the USA and Switzerland.

Strausak, a leading machine tool manufacturer based in Biel, Switzerland, extends its global position in the field of multi-axis CNC grinding by launching the brand-new model ONE 5-axis flexible tool & cutter grinding machine with Numroto tool design software for the grinding of rotary and stationary cutting tools in small and large batch production, for custom cutting tools as well as for resharpening.

Scalable:
This model has been designed so that any options can be upgraded and retrofitted at any time during the life of the machine.

Thermal stability and Cpk process capability index:
The thermal stability is exceptionally high due to an innovative machine design and a rigid 5-axis configuration. Field tests have demonstrated an unusually high Cpk process capability. This is of particular importance when grinding short-run custom tooling where accuracy and “first-tool-good” are critical.

Linear motors:

Linear motion technology is included in this machine which ensures outstanding surface finishes both on radius and other primary reliefs as well as flute finish. Linear motors also reduce the footprint of the machine.

Synchronous grinding spindle:
The highly efficient synchronous spindle, running at max. 40% power draw or less, does not release any heat into the machine or into the grinding process. This greatly helps with a consistent grinding process and keeping the thermal stability.

Numroto software:
This software platform offers the user high-performance tool design and intuitive programming for an unlimited range of applications.

Footprint:

This machine presents the smallest possible footprint among any tool grinder with a 32 mm (1.1/4”) capacity, without any compromise in rigidity, sturdiness and power for production grinding.

PERIPHERAL VISION
For machine tool peripherals, it’s LNS, then all the rest.

Peripherals, by definition, are an outer boundary. But at LNS, that boundary is where we put our focus. Because here’s the secret—with LNS peripherals on their side, our customers are able to turn their attention to what they do best:  making chips and making money.  That’s why we do what we do.

Five product categories and industry-best expertise means no company on earth can match the passion and vision we have for machine tool peripherals.

We design, build, and stand behind every high-pressure coolant system, bar feeder, chip conveyor, steady rest system and mist collector we sell – we know every model inside and out, we stock replacement parts, and local support is just a phone call away

LNS offers 17 different bar feeders for fixed or sliding headstock machines that accommodate bar diameters from 0.8 mm to 120 mm, many with automatic or no-tool-required quick changeovers

LNS ChipBLASTER high pressure coolant systems provide precise high-pressure force to allow cutting tools to operate at higher speeds and reduce tool wear

eConnect Ethernet communications system that enables data exchange between CNC machine controls and peripherals to reduce material waste and speed production

LNS Turbo chip conveyors handle all chip and material types – models include magnetic and self-cleaning models that filter out 500, 250 or even 50-micron particles

All models of LNS Fox mist collectors exceed OSHA and NIOSH requirements, eliminating oil/coolant mist, smoke and other fine aerosols and particulates

Steady-rest based workholding systems are custom designed and built to address each specific machining application

PKF Mueller members have been busy recently with client and network colleagues on both sides of the Atlantic. First up was the annual Client Appreciation Event featuring food, drink, raffles, and gifts for our amazing clients. The event was hosted live following last year’s virtual event. It was great to connect in-person with all who attended. Dave Nissen, CEO/President of PKF Mueller and Amy Chamoun, International Tax Partner, also took a trip to Germany to reconnect with some of our international clients and PKF International accounting colleagues in early October. While the official Oktoberfest activities were canceled this year, they were able to fit in some social activities and sample fantastic German cuisine and drink. Prost!
