Lucerne Business North America: On the Move!
We are a concierge-style, business-government resource for North American companies that desire a footprint in Europe and are interested in learning about how Canton Lucerne in Switzerland can provide a unique location as a European presence. Lucerne is home to companies across Life Sciences, Aerospace & Robotics, AI and Blockchain, and especially innovative leading edge Industrial Products companies, among others. In fact, a number of Lucerne-headquartered companies are also in the Midwest, like KomaxEROWA TechnologyEmmi RothSchindler and Swiss Steel International.

Recently, we became the European home for Ohio-based CiNTAS, a multi-billion-dollar facility services company. CiNTAS is setting up their "digital transformation center" in Lucerne. Why? Lucerne is part of Switzerland's most concentrated ICT commercial corridor for a) ICT companies, b) tech talent, c) knowledge centers and d) community-oriented engagements, i.e. the "Applied AI" Hub, LAC2. Lucerne has also been voted "best place" to live in Switzerland by the Swiss themselves! Combining Lucerne's attractive corporate tax rates and lower operating costs than its neighboring Swiss Cantons, CiNTAS is pleased to call Lucerne, Switzerland its first European home base.

In future newsletters, I will bring you further insights into Switzerland's competitive edge and how to take advantage of it as a business destination. If you have a testimonial to share or want to learn more about why companies are coming to Switzerland, contact me directly. Happy to share our corporate experiences with your team. I am available both in-person and virtually.

New Product launch in the USA

The famous escomatic D6 cam driven machine, is back, and it’s back with a brand new CNC controlled triple tool head. The product was showcased at the PMTS in Cleveland.

The escomatic D6 CNC ULTRA has been designed to Evolve with the Production. The tool head, which rotates at 12’000 rpm-1, has 3 turning tools that can be controlled individually as needed for each application, expanding the possibilities and simplifying the manufacturing process. It is possible to machine the front and back of the workpiece simultaneously. The front machining unit consists of three axial spindles designed for drilling, tapping, milling, slotting…
The counter spindle with C-axis and the front machining unit are each mounted on a table equipped with independent CNC axes each translating at a speed of 40 m/minute. After cutting off the workpiece, 3 axial spindles and 1 cross spindle can perform secondary machining at a speed of 18’000 min-1  to enable high-performance secondary operations. All the operations are controlled by an easy-to-use machine-specific Pegasus/Beckhoff CNC control for more flexibility and ease of use.

ESCO would also like to welcome Stephan Swanson, the Managing Director of the newly founded ESCO USA based in Hoffman Estates.

American Lamprecht: Supply Chain and Logistics Update: Europe/USA

The past 3 years have provided significant disruption in supply chain and logistics. Current trends are pointing towards normalization and efficiency in the near future.

"The unprecedented disruption in freight movement, equipment location, and port congestion is normalizing. While economic headwinds are on everyone's mind, the supply chain issues surrounding freight and logistics are less of a concern, " said Patrick Imhof, Chief Operating Officer of American Lamprecht.

The following are updates on European and North American trade lanes.

Air Freight volume over the North Atlantic is currently down by 20%. Ports in Europe and North America remain fluent. Inland rail yards capacity constraints and chassis shortages still occur throughout the US. Vessel schedules are improving and normal schedules are closer to being maintained. In addition, space is generally available on vessels

PERIPHERAL VISION
For machine tool peripherals, it’s LNS, then all the rest.

For 50 years, LNS has optimized the performance of CNC fixed and sliding headstock turning machines with the industry’s most advanced bar feeders, chip conveyors, coolant management, air filtration and work support systems. In addition, LNS provides unmatched applications assistance, customer support and technical service worldwide.

Five product categories and industry-best expertise means no company on earth can match the passion and vision we have for machine tool peripherals.

We design, build, and stand behind every high-pressure coolant system, bar feeder, chip conveyor, steady rest system, and mist collector we sell – we know every model inside and out, stock replacement parts, and local support is just a phone call away.

LNS offers 16 different bar feeders for fixed or sliding headstock machines that accommodate bar diameters from 0.12 mm to 120 mm, many with automatic or no-tool-required quick changeovers.

LNS Chipblaster high-pressure coolant systems perfectly match machine tools and applications, providing precise high-pressure force to allow cutting tools to operate at higher speeds and reduce tool wear.

eConnect Ethernet communications system enables data exchange between CNC machine controls and peripherals to reduce material waste and speed up production.

LNS Turbo chip conveyors handle all chip and material types – models include magnetic, hinge belt, and self-cleaning models that filter out 500, 140, or even 50-micron particles, which handle virtually all chip types and sizes from stringy stainless steel to fine brass and aluminum.

All models of LNS Fox mist collectors exceed OSHA and NIOSH air quality requirements, eliminating oil/coolant mist, smoke, and other fine aerosol particulates developed during wet machining operations.

Steady Rest work holding systems designed for your specific application requirements to increase part control and stability during machining operations.
