ASC 326 – Credit Losses on Financial Instruments – what actually changed?

The FASB released new codification (US GAAP) for the allowance for credit losses, formerly known as the allowance for bad debt.  But what actually changed for your company?  The new codification requires the consideration of not only past and current information when calculation the allowance but also an estimate of future developments.  Further, pooling customers by certain characteristics is now required.

As usual, new accounting standards can be complex. Rödl & Partner USA is happy to guide you through these changes. We have experience with the new standard and are happy to share our knowledge. Please reach out to Christian Hock (Christian.Hock@roedlusa.com) for further questions and help with these changes.
