On Wednesday, July 31, we celebrated Swiss National Day at the Union League Club in Chicago. The event was a great success, with a strong turnout and positive feedback from all attendees. We were honored to have Pascal Bornoz, Consul General of Switzerland in Chicago, deliver a speech. Our special guest and keynote speaker was Martin Ritter, President & CEO of Stadler US Inc.
We are excited to announce that Metra has awarded Stadler a contract to supply 16 battery-electric trains for operation in Chicago and the surrounding region. This contract represents the first competitive bid for battery-electric trainsets in the United States.

(HCC) to unveil the revolutionary International Freight Forwarding Apprenticeship Program This innovative collaboration marks a historic milestone as Fracht Group becomes the first freight forwarder to establish a registered apprenticeship program in conjunction with the Department of Labor.

German International School Chicago (GISC) Celebrates 15th Anniversary, Announces Strategic Plan
Celebrating 15 years of bilingual education with a global perspective: The 2023-2024 school year marked the 15th anniversary for German International School Chicago (GISC), providing an opportunity to celebrate past achievements and envision future growth with a strategic plan.
“In the years to come, GISC will continue to remain dedicated to providing a world-class bilingual education, fostering global citizens prepared for success in an interconnected world,” said Ben Hebebrand, GISC Director. “We also look forward to connecting with Swiss nationals to help them and their children get settled in life in Chicago as Swiss expats.”
From humble beginnings as a non-profit school founded via parent initiative, GISC has evolved into a prominent International Baccalaureate (IB) World School. Just in the past year, the school achieved a 10% growth rate and now teaches 195 students from preschool to eighth grade on its campus in the Ravenswood neighborhood of Chicago. Over 40 nationalities are represented and 26 languages spoken at home by GISC families.
Looking ahead, the school is currently a candidate for the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program (MYP) and expects official authorization by the 2025-2026 school year.
By 2030, GISC plans to graduate its first class with a Mixed-Language IB Diploma (recognized in more than 100 nations as a university entrance exam), a U.S. High School Diploma, and the Deutsches Sprachdiplom II (DSD II), further solidifying the school’s offering for the future.
