The SABC's Swiss National Day Reception in August at the Mid-America Club on top of Chicago's iconic Aon Center had a great turn out with more than 100 participants and was a great success. Besides excellent networking opportunities a highlight was the stunning performance of the Jodelchörli Alpsteinblick Abtwil from Switzerland.
SABC has set the date for the 2016 Christmas Party and Fundraiser to Wednesday, December 7th.
This year we returning again to the elegant Four Seasons Hotel in Chicago. The Christmas Dinner is a long standing, wonderful tradition for our organization. It is a great opportunity for the Swiss-American business community to gather and celebrate the holiday season, enjoy a festive evening, see old friends, meet new friends, network, and bid for great, unique auction items. The event is the primary fundraiser for the SABC and vital to the group continuing its overall mission.

Several members of the SABC Members will be present and showcase their products and services at the International Manufacturing an Technology Show from September 12 - 17, 2016 at McCormick Place in Chicago. Our members BIG KAISER, LNS, PLATIT and Rollomatic provided us a preview (see below) for their exhibit at the show.
BIG KAISER IMTS Booth W-1600 Full of Innovation and Action

BIG KAISER Precision Tooling has an exciting show in store for its booth visitors during this year’s International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS) September 12th-17th at McCormick Place in Chicago, Illinois.

BIG KAISER is continuing down the path of digital tooling innovation with the introduction of the EWD EVO, a digital boring head designed with a single goal in mind—making the life of an operator as easy as possible. It will be synched with the new BIG KAISER smartphone and tablet app, which was developed to enhance user friendliness while assembling and running BIG KAISER boring tools. Not only will users be able to read the cutting diameter change, but the app will also help operators determine optimal cutting parameters from their tool assemblies. The app will also log historical adjustments for all tools ever synched with it, a critical piece for shops joining the smart manufacturing movement.
Additional, BIG KAISER’s parent company, BIG Daishowa Seiki, is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2016, and will be showcasing many new innovations around the globe this year. As a member of the BIG Daishowa Group (Osaka, Japan), BIG KAISER has grown into a well-recognized global tooling provider, with manufacturing facilities in North America, Europe   and Asia.

Taking charge of an inheritance

Taking charge of an inheritance

Allen Carter, Executive Director- Wealth Management, 312.525.4300
UBS Financial Services

When a loved one dies, you may experience a flood of mixed emotions—combined with the uncertainty of inheriting an estate. We want to help you understand, and take charge of this complex transition, so that you can move forward with more confidence—and help ensure that you and your family are protected.

The first piece of advice we give clients who have inherited significant wealth is “take your time.” Before making big decisions, you may need time to grieve for the loved one you have lost, sort through what has been left, and assess your own perspectives on investments, spending, and even gifting to others.

In the meantime, it’s best to park any liquid assets in safe, accessible vehicles like a bank account, money market fund or short-term certificates of deposit. If you inherit stocks, bonds or mutual funds, we can help you consider whether to simply maintain the existing investment plan until you’re ready to implement a plan of your own, or determine if there are certain assets that warrant more immediate attention based on your risk tolerance. And, if you receive real estate or other physical assets, make sure that the home or other property is maintained and kept secure until you decide what to do with it.

The whole world talks about going Green and to reduce the ecological footprint yet transport becomes cheaper and cheaper with there being an overcapacity in both vessels and airplanes. Shipping Lines and Airlines complain that they are losing money but no measures are taken to correct this situation with every attempt to increase rates being unsuccessful because of pressure that is being applied by Shippers and Forwarders.

The irony in this is that cheaper transport also means an increase in transport volumes. Higher volumes produce lower costs and lead to yet even larger volumes. A vicious circle that consequently burdens our Planet and our future with increased CO2 emissions.

In other words, transport is too cheap, not only for cargo but for air travel as well and this needs to be corrected. Manhattan lawyers can charge up to $1,600 an hour to defend ones interests yet you can ship a container at far less from almost any port to any port. Ironic, isn’t it ?

Fracht USA is an ISO-14001 certified Company and we try to conduct our business in an environmentally conscious way. Often times a ‘greener’ mode of transport is also more expensive. Therefore shippers mostly choose the cheaper option. Catch-22?

Fracht keeps on striving for excellence and quality. We undertake everything in our power to serve our clients to the best of our ability and knowledge.
We thank you for your confidence and trust.
