To celebrate this milestone, the Consulate General of Switzerland in Chicago is partnering with the Alliance Française de Chicago and the Swiss Benevolent Society (SBS) to organize three events.
  • The series will begin on February 27, with the Soirée Commune featuring traditional raclette served by the SBS.
  • On March 19, the Soirée Suisse will explore the work of the Swiss artist Alberto Giacometti, with a focus on his formative years in Paris and Geneva.
  • Finally, on March 24, we are organizing a Soirée Chocolat with Barry Callebaut and the Wallonia Export and Investment Agency.

For the eighth year in a row, RacletteCorner has partnered with Caroline Hostetter of Adopt-an-Alp to bring you authentic raclette cheese, made during the past summer season on the high alpine pastures of Arosa, Graubuenden.

Adopt-an-Alp connects small Swiss cheese-dairy farmers with US customers like RacletteCorner while supporting transhumance the centuries-old tradition of moving people and animals with the seasons. For the Swiss dairy farmers, this means that family and cows leave the valley each summer for the higher meadows, escaping the heat and producing exceptional Alpage cheeses, including our beloved raclette.

Swiss Raclette from Maran in Graubuenden

When we were first offered the opportunity to sponsor a farm, choosing Alp Maran was easy. RacletteCorner’s own mom lived and worked in Arosa for several years and knows both the farm and the creamery personally.

Alp Maran – known locally as Sennerei Maran - is owned by the community and farmers of Chur, the oldest alpine city in all of Switzerland. About 400 cows, mostly brown with a few red ones, spend their summers on four Alps located just above the Arosa ski resort at elevations of 5,500 feet and higher. Around 60 of those cows graze on Maran itself. Milk comes from Alp Maran and the neighboring Alps Carmenna, Praetschli and Sattel, with the latter three connected via milk pipeline.

Throughout the summer, master cheesemaker Walter Niklaus and his team transform over 100,000 gallons of milk into wonderful cheeses and other delicacies.

You can enjoy this limited-season cheese while supplies last. taste this wonderful cheese while supply lasts. Visit us at https://raclettecorner.com/collections/raclette-cheese/cheese_maran

Bridging Swiss Precision and American Manufacturing

For more than 60 years, Heule has built its reputation on Swiss engineering principles rooted in precision, reliability, and long-term thinking. Founded in Switzerland in 1961 as a family-owned company, Heule has always focused on designing simple, robust solutions that solve complex manufacturing challenges—an approach that continues to resonate in today’s highly automated production environments.

Swiss tool design emphasizes efficiency through simplicity. Rather than adding complexity, Heule tools are engineered to perform multiple operations in a single cycle, reduce secondary processes, and deliver consistent results over long production runs. This design philosophy allows manufacturers to improve quality while minimizing cycle time, tooling changes, and operator intervention.

In North America, manufacturers face unique demands: higher production volumes, increasing automation, labor shortages, and growing pressure to maintain tight tolerances at competitive costs. Heule Precision Tools bridges this gap by pairing Swiss-engineered solutions with localized technical support, application engineering, and inventory across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Close collaboration between Heule’s Swiss headquarters and the North American team ensures that global engineering standards are adapted to real-world production needs on the shop floor.

This Swiss–American partnership enables manufacturers to implement reliable, repeatable tooling solutions that support lights-out machining, reduce variability, and keep production moving. As manufacturing continues to evolve, Heule remains committed to combining Swiss precision with practical, customer-focused support—helping North American manufacturers stay competitive today and prepared for what comes next.

IEEPA Tariff Lawsuit: What Importers Should Know

The U.S. Supreme Court recently heard a case reviewing the legality of tariffs imposed under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA). A decision is expected sometime in 2026 and may affect importers subject to the additional April 2, 2025 duties.

While the outcome may bring relief to some, it is unclear whether refunds will apply broadly or only to companies named in the case. For that reason, importers may wish to take proactive steps to preserve potential refund rights.

At American Lamprecht, we are working closely with our clients and a trusted U.S. trade law firm to help evaluate next steps. Three options to consider include:
● Requesting an extension of liquidation
● Filing a protest for liquidated entries
● Joining a coordinated case through the U.S. Court of International Trade

The coordinated legal action allows importers to participate under a flat fee structure while the case is pending. Filing deadlines vary and may be time-sensitive, so early review is advised.

Our team is here to assist with entry review, protest filing, and legal referrals if needed. Given the fluid and evolving situation, please contact us to discuss your situation and determine which approach may be right for your business.
