Fracht Group, together with Houston Community College – Northwest, has launched the first freight forwarding apprenticeship in the U.S. registered by the Department of Labor.

It’s a big step for both Fracht and the industry, giving students the chance to learn in the classroom while also rotating through ocean, air, IT, finance, and marketing to gain a full view on how the industry operates.Apprentices train on the same CargoWise platform Fracht’s teams use every day, starting in a test environment before moving into live workflows. That way, they build confidence and skills before taking on real-world responsibilities.
Along the way, they also develop the soft skills that make a difference in logistics like communication, teamwork, and problem solving.

“Apprenticeships aren’t just about filling roles, they’re about building future leaders,” says Lauren Parkerson, Fracht Group – North America. Graduates of the program finish with practical experience, certified skills, and a clear path to start their careers at Fracht.
The program is open to people from many different backgrounds—whether they’re recent graduates, career changers, or simply looking for a fresh opportunity. And once apprentices complete the program, they’re guaranteed a full-time position at Fracht, ready to contribute from day one.
